Bandy is an adult BC mix, about 5 years old, and fostered in Plymouth, Indiana. He?s an energetic, happy fellow who gets along well with other dogs and loves people. He?s a lucky, lucky boy to be able to take a training class at The Truth about Dogs , and when he?s finished, he?ll be as smart as a BC can be and ready for a home of his own! April 25, 2012
Bandit is a very easy dog to live with. Excellent in the house and is crate trained too. He loves to follow me around the house and really likes to be a part of the family. He is a total 50# lap dog. Loves to cuddle and be loved on. He is great in the car and good with dogs too! The two things that make Bandit slightly challenging are 1) He cannot cohabitate with cats. I have 5 outdoor cats that he can see on the other side of the fence but he is never allowed to interact with them because I have a strong suspicion it would not go well! I can however call him away from the fence if he decides to start barking at the kitties. 2) He is afraid of men that he does not know and is not familiar with. Once he has a chance to become familiar he is fine with them. For example, he met my niece's boyfriend several weeks ago and in about 5 minutes time he decided that Justin was safe. Then he came back a couple weekends ago to take some new pictures of Bandit and Bandit greeted him like he was his long lost pal!! I NEVER HAVE BANDIT OR ANY OF MY DOGS THAT ARE FEARFUL OF UNFAMILIAR PEOPLE MEET PEOPLE THAT ARE ALSO STRANGERS TO ME. Having dogs that are suspicious of humans meet people that you don't even know is a disaster waiting to happen and is not fair to the poor doggie being made to cope in that situation. At this time any trouble that would occur with Bandit and unfamiliar men would all be due to human error. I completely understand how he needs to be introduced to a new unfamiliar man and I follow the process exactly every time and have had absolutely no trouble at all. 3) I do not trust him off leash or long-line in a non-fenced area. If you have room in your heart for a wonderful companion level doggie and understand his needs to feel safe and become familiar with an unfamiliar man and are willing to give him the time and space he needs to feel safe then please inquire about Bandit. He is a wonderful doggie and will be a great companion as he really loves being with and cuddling with his human. Jan. 26
Hello everyone! My name is Bandy! I think my story is pretty interesting, so here goes. My previous Daddy packed up and abandoned me. This was a very difficult time for me. A nice lady stopped in to see me every day to make sure I had food and water and to see if I was ok but that?s just not the same as having someone there to love me, play with me and scratch my tummy every day. Then I found out the good news, that this nice lady found a rescue, CBBCR, that was willing to help me. Now I live with my new foster Mommy and she has other doggies that I love to play with. She also has kitties and horses that I can see through the fence and sometimes I like to bark at them. Foster Mom says I am making progress here, because now when she calls my name when I am obsessing about the kitties, I actually turn off them to come to her. She gets so excited when I do this and she even gives me lots of treats ? so I figure this is a pretty good deal for me J I love my new doggie friends. We have tons of fun running and chasing each other in the fenced yard. I always play nice and the other dogs seem to like me a lot too. Foster Mom says I am starting an Obedience class. It?s a very famous training school in Chicago named Call of the Wild. I am not sure what this means but if there are treats involved, count me in! Foster Mom put me on a diet because she said I was a little chubby ? so when extra treats are offered I am all for figuring out
